The packaging on the regular double-sided tape does not say it can be used on fabric but with the creation of the fabric version, that is a moot point. It is well experienced in making a variety of tapes and while they have double-sided tape, they also have double-sided fabric tape. The Scotch company has been making tapes for as long as your grandparents can remember. Does Scotch Double-Sided Tape Work on Fabric? Not only that, but this tape can also be written on when you need to make any sewing notations. Plus, it is not hard to cut this tape to the size you need. Just because the tape can be removed or repositioned easily does not mean it is weak. One good thing about this version of fabric tape is that you are not losing any holding power. There may be other brands making the same thing, but Scotch will be the name you will remember. The granddaddy of tape brands, Scotch, has made a removable fabric tape. There are some very good washable fabric tapes out there just be careful not to pick up the cheaper version. Which brand is the best is anyone’s guess. You use it until you can make a permanent repair like sewing difficult stitches. the latter is made to be washed off as its purpose is not for a permanent fix. The key is not to confuse permanent fabric tape with temporary fabric tape. Amazon has a large selection of this version and finding it should not be very difficult. Those would be called permanent fabric tape. Some versions of fabric tape are washable. A number of base-conversion chemistries have been developed to help differentiate unmodified C from its epigenetic variants, 5mC or 5hmC. Next-generation sequencing directly captures the canonical bases G, C, T and A in its readout 14. Hitherto, researchers have accessed either genetic or epigenetic information, without resolving 5mC from 5hmC.Ĭommonly used sequencing approaches do not capture full information from both genetics and epigenetics. More recently, 5-hydroxymethylcytosine (5hmC) has emerged as an important base modification that can provide information that goes beyond 5mC and genetics 12, 13. Epigenetic information in DNA has been retrieved principally via sequencing 5-methylcytosine (5mC). Noninvasive prenatal diagnostic analysis has also demonstrated that DNA methylation signal can determine fetal origin of DNA fragments 11. DNA methylation information can also inform on the tissue of origin of the circulating tumor DNA 10. Combining information on DNA methylation with genetic sequence in cell-free DNA (cfDNA) from blood has been shown to substantially increase sensitivity to detect tumor DNA 9. Germline genetic alterations cause changes in DNA methylation that ultimately dictate predisposition for disease 6, 7, 8. Both DNA methylation and genotype are required to determine the pluripotency of induced stem cells 4 and their maturation capacity 5. For instance, the analysis of somatic genetic mutations, together with DNA methylation marks, from blood DNA gave a substantially more accurate prediction of mortality than either genetics or DNA methylation alone 3. The combination of genetic and epigenetic information provides a more comprehensive view of biology. Epigenetic information in DNA provides insights into dynamic changes in biology that are closely associated with transcriptional programs 1 and cell fate 2. Genetic sequencing of the DNA bases G, C, T and A has been transformed by high-throughput sequencing approaches in the past two decades. There are multiple dimensions of information stored within DNA. Information encoded in nucleic acids is fundamental to the biology of living systems. Simultaneous, phased reading of genetic and epigenetic bases provides a more complete picture of the information stored in genomes and has applications throughout biomedicine. The approach is accurate, requires low DNA input and has a simple workflow and analysis pipeline. Methods are demonstrated on human genomic DNA and cell-free DNA from a blood sample of a patient with cancer. Coupled decoding of bases across the original and copy strand provides a phased digital readout. DNA is copied and bases are enzymatically converted. We present a single base-resolution sequencing methodology that sequences complete genetics and the two most common cytosine modifications in a single workflow. Methods widely used to detect epigenetic DNA bases fail to capture common C-to-T mutations or distinguish 5-methylcytosine from 5-hydroxymethylcytosine. Most DNA sequencing approaches address either genetics or epigenetics and thus capture incomplete information. Shankar Balasubramanian ORCID: /0000-0002-0281-5815 2, 3ĭNA comprises molecular information stored in genetic and epigenetic bases, both of which are vital to our understanding of biology.Simultaneous sequencing of genetic and epigenetic bases in DNA There are free fonts as well as paid fonts in this list. This crops down your image so the scanner can just focus on the font that you want.Īfter the scan process is complete you will get a list of fonts to browse that is a close match to the font you are trying to identify. Once it is uploaded, the program will ask you to highlight the text that you want to identify. This is a great way to find fonts by image. Confused over being revived in the 21st century and angry at his freakish nature, the reanimated Frink Sr. Professor Frink managed to succeed, but had to resort to replacing much of his father's organs with machinery (except his penis, which he can't find a substitute for). being dead (having tested a blood-based sun tan lotion while studying sharks), but is now resolved to revive him so he could finally watch his son be awarded and be proud of him. When Lisa offered to help patch up their differences, Frink revealed this would be more difficult due to Frink Sr. whom Frink described as a 'He-Man Scientist' who "Worked on the atom bomb by day, sleep with Marily Monroe at Night (And sold secrets to the Russia at lunch)" - being always constantly disappointed with him. Professor Frink has won the Nobel Prize in Physics (Though Lisa Simpsons had to inform him of this due to the Nobel Prize committee calling the Simpsons household by mistake), and Frink expresses regret that his father won't be there to see it, having become estrangled over Frink Sr. Homer enjoys a family dinner with the now short haired Marge. and then finds out that the corpse was actually one of Marge's sisters with Marge's beehive taped to her head. He is horrified, and later goes up to God with her corpse to beg God to let him give up the job. Homer settles into his job, and eventually grows to enjoy doing it- at least until the next person on his list is Marge. He tries to refuse, but the robe convinces him not to by crushing his groin. Homer is going to be the new Grim Reaper. Death's scythe and 'To-Die' list materialize in his hands. But as he does so, one of his hands withers and becomes skeletal. He notices that the robe's pretty soft, and tries it on himself. Homer does so, emptying Death's robes out into the trash. Homer mourns Death, and Marge tells him to just take Death's body out to the curb, as it's trash day. Without him, The Jim Belushi Show will never be canceled, a man shot up by the mob will never die no matter how many holes they put through him, and Moe is getting very bored after hanging himself. But before he can kill Bart, Homer kills him. Eventually, Death corners Bart and pins him to the wall. Cue Scooby-Dooby Doors, set to Yakety Sax. Marge tells Bart to run like the wind (which she pronounces as 'wined' until corrected by Lisa). Kang and Kodos are shown to be observing the Simpsons house and criticize the family for showing a Halloween special in November, when they've already set up for Christmas.ĭeath knocks on Homer's door. Homer's bloodstains on the wall behind him spell out Treehouse of Horror XIV. Marge comes in and disagrees with Homer's approach by using a shotgun. Homer then rolls the kids up in the carpet, and tries to bash them with a club. The log instead lands in Grandpa Simpson's lap, setting him on fire. Homer is very upset about this, and tries to attack them with a log from the fireplace. He then tries to stab her with a poker, but gets Homer instead. Bart starts choking Lisa, who breaks a vase on his head. Lisa has more than Bart, but that's not enough- she steals one of his. IntroThe opening has Bart and Lisa compare Halloween candy yields. In this installment, Homer fills in for The Grim Reaper, Professor Frink tries to revive his dead father (voiced by none other than the inspiration for Frink's character, Jerry Lewis), and Bart and Milhouse's new stopwatch can control time. The first TOH to be written entirely by one person, rather than having a different writer for each segment. Was this shroud the same exact cloth Jesus Christ was buried inside when he died? How was the image of the man created on the cloth created? If these findings are true, then they will completely shatter the skeptic theory that image on the cloth was forged by counterfeits.Įlvio also said that ‘these findings could only be revealed by the methods recently developed in the field of electron microscopy’ and ‘the nanoscale properties of a pristine fiber taken from the Turin Shroud.’Įven though this study sheds a bit of light on this ancient mystery, there are still numerous questions that we have yet to answer. The Shroud of Turin has been an intensely debated topic in the world of science ever since. According to him, ‘the presence of these biological nanoparticles found during our experiments point to a violent death for the man wrapped in the Turin Shroud.’ According to Elvio Carlino, a researcher at the Institute of Crystallography in Bari, Italy the cloth reveals the ‘great suffering’ of a victim ‘wrapped up in the funeral cloth.’Īccording to professor Giulio Fanti of the University of Padua, the blood contained high levels of creatinine and ferritin, substances found in patients who have suffered from devastating traumas like torture. The study says that the cloth contains ‘nanoparticles’ usually not found in the blood of someone healthy. The new findings, titled New Biological Evidence from Atomic Resolution Studies on the Turin Shroud, was published in a US scientific journal that was carried out by The Instituto Officina dei Materiali in Trieste and the Institute of Crystallography in Bari. Recently, researchers in Italy analyzing the shroud of Turin have discovered the blood of a torture victim on the cloth, thus supporting claims it may have been used to bury Jesus. This has caused the shroud of Turin to become not only one of the most sacred relics but also one of the most mysterious. Every scientific attempt at replicating the image has failed so far. That seemed like a huge piece of evidence to dismiss the authenticity of the shroud, but soon researchers found that the carbon dating that came from the top edge of the shroud produced a much different date than a piece taken from the bottom edge of the cloth.īut here’s the thing: even if the image was from medieval times and not from the time of Jesus, there is still the mystery of how the image of the man was created in the first place. All three places confirmed that the material dated back to 12, which is more than a thousand years after Jesus was alive. The biggest focal point for skeptics is a carbon-14 dating conducted in 1988 where a small piece of fabric from the corner of the shroud was sent to labs at the University of Oxford, the University of Arizona, and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. Some say the blood on the cloth belongs to Jesus while some claim that the face of Jesus was painted on by counterfeiters in medieval times. But after years and years of studies, tests, and debates, they came to the conclusion that it is still hard to tell. The piece of linen, measuring 53 square feet and containing the faint image of a man, is believed by millions of Christians from around the world to be the cloth Jesus himself was buried in after death.Įver since a photo negative of the linen captured by Italian amateur photographer Secondo Pia revealed an image of a body over 100 years ago, scores of researchers have analyzed the image as well as the blood stains and fabric to try and confirm or dismiss the linen’s authenticity. Blood was pumped around the mannequin, and released at the wound points supposedly shown on the shroud, which was then left to flow to show researchers what the resulting patterns would look like.Along with the Holy Grail and the Spear of Destiny, the Shroud of Turin is one of the most sacred religious relics on the planet. One team, using a mannequin and a volunteer, simulated wounds as shown on the shroud using real and synthetic blood. Other studies have focused on the patterns on the shroud itself. Subjecting other cloths to carbon monoxide as a test, however, has not shown any significant impact on radiocarbon dating. It has since been suggested, by those who likely want to believe in its authenticity, that the teams could have taken a sample from an area of the shroud which was repaired in the 12-1300s, or that the shroud was contaminated during a fire in Chambery, France, in 1532.Ĭlutching even more desperately at straws, others have suggested that the shroud became contaminated by carbon monoxide, throwing off the dating of the cloth by a thousand or so years. This dates it roughly to around the time it appeared in historical records, near to the time when the bishop of Troyes declared it to be a cunning fraud. Thousands of mods were made for this game, including vehicles, parts for said vehicles, tracks (Some mods only work on the 2.2.1 MWM version), sounds, menu interfaces, and textures. The latest version (2.3.1) was released on Steam and is gradually improved by the Russian game developer ImageCode in collaboration with Raxat. Unlike a traditional street racing video game if the player crashes their car the consequences are very real and must manually replace each part that got destroyed in the crash.Ĭurrently, there are three patches for the game: the 2.2.1 MWM (by Miran & Wichur), 2.3.0 Live Edition (by Raxat), and SLRR2015 (by Bigg Boss93, available on ). The player can buy a completely new car from the dealership, a used one from a local shop where they were already customized or even totaled, or build the car from scratch with a chassis. And also the newly added race tracks that allows the player to race their own vehicles against AI's on a race track to win a prize.Ī unique feature of the game is its detailed level of customization for the vehicles. During the night, players can either participate in a drag race against another driver or watch the race. Players have to race others on the streets during the day for prestige (respect) or money to customize the car. The plot of the game is to beat every club and accomplish the requirements to enter the Race of Champions, a prestigious racing competition where one can win a bonus car. The game takes place in Valo City (possibly a play on the word " velocity"), a metropolis known for its vast underworld of illegal street racing. So make sure not to overcook them and fry over medium-high heat with a large wok or pan. Sauerbraten is a dish that definitely requires some advance planning as the roast has to marinate for about a week before it’s ready to cook. It has been one of Germany’s most popular dishes for generations and as such has become one of its official national dishes.īeautiful Berchtesgaden in Bavaria, a favorite family vacation spot while growing up in the Swabia region of Southern Germany. This quintessential German dish is found on the menus of many German restaurants both in and outside of Germany. Sometimes it’s also made with venison or lamb. Originally the dish was most commonly made with horse and there are a few restaurants that still serve it, but today it’s primarily made with beef. Saint Albert the Great of Cologne was later credited with having popularized the recipe in the 13th century. The origin of Sauerbraten has been ascribed to Julius Caesar who is documented as having sent beef marinated in wine all the way from Rome to the new Roman colony of Cologne. The addition of ginger snaps also serves to thicken the gravy. There is always the addition of a sweet ingredient to balance the acidity and sourness of the sauce and some regions do this by adding ginger snap cookies, raisins, sugar, honey or sugar beet syrup (or often a combination of them) to achieve that balance. Some regions use just vinegar, some just wine and others use a combination of both, which is the most common. Sauerbraten recipes vary by region, each adding their own touches. Wherever we went it was made a little differently, but always delicious. It was also a dish we loved to order at restaurants. Both my German mother and my Oma would make it served with Rotkohl, Knödle and potatoes, sometimes Spätzle, and it was a memorable feast every time. Growing up in southern Germany until my mid-20’s, Sauerbraten was a dish I always looked forward to. One of Germany’s national dishes, this authentic German Sauerbraten is marinated, cooked until tender, and served with a wonderfully rich and flavorful sweet-tangy gravy! Serve it with homemade Rotkohl and potatoes, Knödel or Spätzle and you’re all set for a memorable feast! |
